The Big Debate on Social Media Styles

Waiora & Lead Generation

Scale

There is a debate between many on-line marketers that you may not have ever heard of before. The debate is "To Broadcast or to Network" on Social Media and what works best? Chances are you are like the majority of us that do a lot of one and not so much of the other.

The term “Broadcasting” means to make a general post about something that is not engaging anyone on a one-on-one level. An example of a typical message would be, “Article writing is easy to do and will help you brand yourself as a leader in the Industry. Try to write a new Article every day for results”. That gives good content to the reader and isn’t selling them anything. It is informational only, not Spammy. Notice there isn’t a link to my training website. If they liked what I have to say they will click on my profile if they want and click on my website in my profile.

The Term, “Networking” means the act of meeting new people in a business or social environment. Basically making new friends, followers and building  relationships with them. Sharing common interests and entering into conversations with them.

One of my followers on Twitter wrote “The price of success is much lower than the price of failure!”. I commented on that post with, “@haltopgun This is so true. Success is worth the effort & Failure isn’t an option. Believe in yourself and the world will be your playground.”  This is networking; I am potentially building a friendship with this person. He may or not write back, many people do, but that is only half the “Networking” opportunity that comes from networking on Social Media platforms.

The other benefit to Networking is that all my followers and his followers will see my post and see that I am engaging in conversation and be more willing to approach me with comments or questions that I can help them with.

You see the trick is to balance them out. I see the value as I hope you do with both. The problem is that many people only focus on one or the other primarily.

I was guilty of just “Broadcasting” until I learned this principal too. Sometimes it’s not easy to find something to comment on because so many people Spam or broadcast about there product or opportunity. Really try to focus on bringing value in your broadcasting and in your Networking. Look for those followers that are bringing value with their posts and don’t waste your time on those that are Spamming.

I am in the middle on this debate because there is so much value in both styles of using Social Media. I believe that to be successful in Social Media, you really need to have a good Balance of both.

I’d love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below about what style do you use the most and where do you stand on this debate?

Yours in Mastery,

Adam Braithwaite

Hi. Very pleasant info. I found your good blog while searching bing. For the last few days I’ve been trying to learn more. Specially anything to do with the diet talk. I’ve seen it all and my cousin keeps pushing her recent weight loss fad on me. So I’m happy I encountered you. Bye! :)
